Should have the Lord of the Night calculation for the next version, anyway is the best maya calendar app for i Phone/iPod!

Dr. Barnharts program covers all the bases, providing a glimpse into the inner workings of the Maya calendar. It has a basic Long Count-Gregorian conversion calculator for determining dates - very handy if you are writing up notes and dont have all your books handy. The short essays on different aspects of the calendar are clearly written and up-to-the-minute. An elegant mix of scholarship and technology.

The glyphs in this program look great, and I use this app daily for a quick history lesson and an idea of what the Maya think I should do today.

Wow! Very cool app! I love the daily interpretations of the glyphs, it is kind of like a maya horoscope! The birthday calculator is also cool. It allows you to find out the maya day names for your birthday. Now when I erect a stele, I will know that I have the date carved correctly! The addition of the Maya birthdate calculator is great! My Maya birthday is the day before my gregorian birthday! Wow, two birthdays in a row! Woo!

Great App! This App has great graphics and teaches youa pretty good lesson on the Mayan Calender !

I just got back from Chichen Itza and wish Id had this app. The author has done a great job of not only giving a history lesson, hes also made it very entertaining and useful. I highly recommend this app. its worth every cent. Excellent explanations of the calendar and dates you can enter. Cant wait to see wheres hes going to go next with this app.

I think I know the problem with the flip arrows is. The area that one must tap to have the page flip to the personality/destiny area is far too small. Its too easy to miss the very tiny spot and cause the edit screen to show up please fix this. Its very frustrating. Previous comment: Really fine initial effort. Interface is a little clumsy, but not bad. The arrows that are supposes to flip from the persons info to the personality description/destiny are not working reliably. Sometimes they wont flip at all and all I get is the page to modify the persons name, etc. Please fix.

The Maya calendars are confusing to understand. This app does not really help novices understand what is going on. I personally bought this app thinking it would help me get a better idea of the meaning of the various glyphs and how they relate to each day. In this sense the app fails. I prefer using the free app Tzolkin Explorer. Tekin Tontu seems to give more information on each of the glyphs and how they apply to specific dates. If you are looking for a calendar that gives you an idea of what the day is like, then this is not the app to get. If on the other hand, you are a researcher, then maybe this is the app. Since Im not a researcher, I have no idea how I would use this app. I also do not like the birthday interface with my address book. It lists every contact regardless of having a birthday listed. Tzolkin is smart enough to only list contacts with birthdays listed. Also, email sent on persons birthday only says "Happy Birthday". Geez, you would think it would send the additional Maya info for the birthday. $3 is not a lot of money. However, the free Tzolkin app is much better for impressions of what the days are about.

At the top right of the pages is a tiny "i" button which opens up into a whole bunch of calendar explanations. The other features are great too, but there are many more resources here than at first glance.

Great App! I had just talk to a friend about a program I had on one of the first iMacs that did just what this app does... That was like 20 yrs ago! I study the Maya, and the simplicity and information is pretty good. I love putting in friends birthdates. The short history is well laid out. MUST HAVE******

It would be nice if the developer could add emailing function to be able to email the birthday chart, Personality & Destiny, with the symbols, too. And or add a Wifi transfer option for the birthday charts. Also, it would be better if the names of people for the birthdays can be stored in the app. and not from the iPhone contact list. Not everyone in the contact list will have a birthday date. Plus, if I want to punch in a celebrity person to see their Mayan birthday chart - I do not want to have that person in my iPhone contact list since I dont have their phone number.

The birthday thing doesnt work. It just shows a list of contacts and an option to add more. But i cant figure out how to add birthdays or generate any charts. Am i missing something? How does it work?

I have just looked at the other options for Maya Calendars and have to say that Maya Calendar has so much going for it I am not sure why there need to be other options. This application is developed by an exceedingly well trained and well respected Maya scholar. He has made epic contributions to the field of Maya archaeology and epigraphy, with many decades of his career before him. His program is useful for both entertainment and serious date decipherment.

I like the Detailed Personality Trait Descriptions in the Birthday Function. Though, When I email the results to myself, I received no contents. It would be nice if there was a search field in the contacts, as well as a most recent tab. It would be nice if the developer included a glossary of common terms associated with the daily calendar.

Excellent Mayan Calendar from trusted source. I spent a couple summers doing archaeology with Dr. Barnhart in Belize while we were still undergrads. He was lucky enough to study at UT Austin under Dr. Linda Schele, one of the biggest names in Mayan Hieroglyphs at the time. Now that hes got his PhD, I cant think of a better source for academic level accuracy.

This app did not fully download onto my iPhone. I wrote Mr. Barnhart and hope to hear back from him.

This counter used to work fine on my iPhone 4S, and my iPhone 5S. It seemed to work okay yesterday, March 20, and now it freezes all the time. I deleted it and even read downloaded it, and it simply will not work.
